whatapp back step by step in androp to local drive of pc
For Android Phones
WhatsApp data is stored locally on your phone and can be copied to your computer.
Method 1: Copy WhatsApp Folder Manually
-
Connect your phone to your PC using a USB cable.
-
Allow file transfer (MTP) on the phone.
-
Open Internal Storage → look for a folder called WhatsApp (or
Android/media/com.whatsapp
in latest versions). -
Copy the entire WhatsApp folder to your computer or external drive.
-
Inside you’ll find:
-
/Databases/
→ Chat backups (msgstore.db.crypt14
files). -
/Media/
→ All images, videos, documents, audio.
-
-
-
This is your full local backup.
⚠️ Note: To restore chats, you’ll need to move the Databases
folder back to the same location before reinstalling WhatsApp.
Method 2: Use WhatsApp Export Chats (for specific chats only)
-
Open any chat → Tap ⋮ (menu) → More → Export Chat.
-
You can choose with or without media.
-
Save it to your local drive or email.
👉 Good for important chats, but not full backup.
Method 3: Use Third-Party Tools (PC Software)
Some tools (like iMazing, MobileTrans, iToolab WatsGo, Dr.Fone) let you:
-
Connect phone → Take complete WhatsApp backup → Save to local drive.
These tools make restoration easier if you switch devices.
🔹 For iPhone
By default, WhatsApp uses iCloud, but you can also back up locally:
-
Connect iPhone to PC.
-
Use iTunes/Finder → Take a full encrypted iPhone backup to your PC.
-
This includes WhatsApp data.
-
-
Alternatively, use tools like iMazing or iToolab → Backup WhatsApp only → Save locally.
✅ Best Option for Android: Manually copy the WhatsApp folder (Databases + Media).
✅ Best Option for iPhone: Use iTunes encrypted backup or a third-party tool.
